Sri Krishna Janmashtami

The Birth Of Lord KrishnaSri Krishna Janmashtami, the appearance day of Lord Krishna, is the most auspicious day on which Lord Krishna appeared in this world to please his devotees and annihilate the demons. The tenth canto of Srimad BhagavatamĀ  provides a beautiful narration of this entire pastime.

This auspicious festival would be celebrated on 15th August this year. This page offers all the information you may need about this festival and to facilitate your visit.

At ISKCON Delhi, this happens to be the biggest festival of the year with nearly 8 lakh devotees visiting the temple for a darshan (seeing) the Lord.

Festivities begin at 4:30 in the morning and goes on up mid-night. Various stalls throughout theĀ  temple campus provide the visitors to learn about the Lord Krishna’s pastimes through books, dramas, Q & A. After the darshan, all the devotees would be served a sumptous feast prasadam.

Srimad Bhagavat Katha : 5th to 11th August, everyday from 6 pm to 9 pm at the auditorium. Followed by dinner prasadam.

Shobha Yatra: 6th August, starting at 1:30 pm from Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Malviya Nagar.

Cultural Program: 13th August , Bhajans, Drama Play, Lectures. Starts at 6 pm.

Sri Krishna Janmashtami: 15th August. Darshan opens at 4:30 am and will be open till 12:30 am on 19th August. Maha-abhishek of Sri Radha Parthasarathi would be performed at 10:30 pm. Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja: 16th August. Glorification and Abhishek from 10 am to 1 pm. Drama play and Cultural programs at the auditorium from 6:30 pm onwards.
If you would be using the metro train, the nearest stations are 'Nehru Place' and 'Kailash Colony'. Due the traffic change,parking facilities for the devotees are offered at three different locations depending on your entry gate:

1. Adjacent to the East of Kailash bus stand on Captain Gaur Marg

2. Near Nehru Place metro station

3. Near Lotus temple
